Sound of Strings | Digital Video (Preview)

“Sound of Strings” is a two channel video installation. On the right screen,  Rah is threading her face, which is a form of epilation and it originates from middle eastern countries. On the left screen, she is sewing the front of chador, which is a garment worn by women in Islamic countries to show religious affiliation.

The classical Iranian music is the traditional santoor played by Hamid Reza Naderian. This collaboration with Naderian demonstrates their relationship as artists living in the diaspora in search of cultural identity. This video was created for “Ciphers: Tension in Tradition with Contemporary Iranian Art.”
